War On Terror
Documentary, 52 min.

War on Terror examines the present and future strategies, training and weapon systems being used and planned by the U.S. military for the not-so-distant future to counter anticipated threats from terrorists. This new documentary illustrates the past and the present of warfare. It looks into the technological possibilities the military is considering to combat the treat of terrorism in all the various forms it may take, and takes viewers inside secret laboratories and war rooms in the United States. What will war be in the future? Will terrorism become the new warfare? If it does, do we have effective means to counter the forms it will take?
How will we be able to identify and track terrorists? Is there a place in this war on terror for aggressive, high-tech killer machines, a massive defensive shield, like NMD, or remote controlled war from outer space using a complex network of satellites? Will we weigh cost over casualty: is it more cost-effective for foot soldiers carrying equipment worth as much as $250,000 to die in the field, or can we use a multi-billion dollar casualty-free hi-tech weaponry operated away from the actual field of battle, like the ultimate video game? What new threats do we face from weapons of mass destruction? Versions: German or English
