Boy With No Face
Documentary (55 or 79 min.)

One evening in 1996, Göran Arvinius sat down to watch the news in Stockholm, while in Vietnam, a 6-year old boy lay sleeping in his bed. Little did they know that they were soon to meet, and  their lives would change forever. That boy was Hoa Ngyuen, the son of a farmer, a boy who was seriously injured and gravely disfigured 2 years earlier by an unexploded Americanphosphorus bomb. The Boy With No Face tells his story and how that news report stirred emotions in the Nordic countries and moved Göran to take action and find a way to give Hoa a new face. The program explores the collective guilt felt by westerners about the Third World and shows how hard it is to change things, even with the best intentions. Will Hoa finally get his promised new face and a new life to go with it? Or will all the well-intentioned efforts to help him be in vain‹or even make things worse?
