First Person Plural
Documentary (59 min.)

What’s your name? Where are you from? Even young children have to answer to these questions. For Korean-born filmmaker Deann Borshay Liem, the answer were elusive – catalyzing a journey through her past to a new understanding of family. In 1966, Korean orphanage officials secretly sent her in place of a different little girl to the United States for adoption by an American family.  FIRST PERSONAL PLURAL is an intensely personal and moving film that chronicles her efforts to reconcile her life as the adopted daughter of loving American family with her previously unknown life in Korea. Bravely uniting her biological and adoptive families, her journey becomes a poignant essay on family, loss and identity.
