A Match Made in Calcutta
Documentary (56 min.)

A Match Made in Calcutta tells the stories of six young Indians as they search for marriage partners. Initially set at a popular Singles-Introduction Fair, the film follows this set of high-caste Indians confused, eager and sometimes just plain shell-shocked- as they arrange their own marriages in only minutes. Just days later, two of the couples are married in a Mass Community Marriage, while a third couple's engagement is canceled. Nine months later the two extremes of marriage are revealed - a tale of horrific violence followed by divorce for one couple contrasted with the welcomed arrival of a new baby for another.
