Episode 4: Political upheaval in Nigeria allows Barine an unexpected and emotional visit home for the first time in nearly five years to properly bury her slain brother. Israel’s wife When Ngozi becomes pregnant with their first child in America, Israel’s great hope is that she will finally give them a boy. Inspired by their growing affection for Ricardo and jose, American house parents Ole and Marie make their first trip to the Dominican Republic to meet their families.
For thirteen years the Flores Familiy has weathered the ordeal of living 1500 miles apart. Now Pedro is making one last track from Kansas to Guanajuato, Mexico to bring his wife and six children to live with him in America. But the trip north will prove to be an ordeal all its own.

Episode 5: For two years Anjan Bacchu has dreamed of working in Silicon Valley. Over his fathers objections, Anjan and his new wife, Harshini, leave successful careers in India for the rich promises of the American dot.com boom.
The repercussions of the second palestine intifada are felt by Naima halfway around the world. Palestinians protest on the streets of Chicago, led by Naima’s increasingly political husband Hatem.
The Flores family finally completes their long journey from Mexico to Kansas. Despite full time work for Pedro and bilingual schools for the children, all is not right in Garden City.

Episode 6: Shortly after their baby’s birth, Israel and Ngozi Nwidor receive tragic news from Nigeria. Coupled with financial woes, it’s the most serious test yet of their dreams in America. As Hatem is drawn deeper into political activism on behalf of the Palestinian cause, Naima finds a new job and a new sense of herself far away from the protests.
When his wife Harshimi finally joins him, the coulple are on their way to achieving the Indian American Dream.

Episode 7: Anjan and Harshini appeared to have it all when the high-tech bubble burst. Now, with Harshini pregnant and unemployed, the young couple’s life is turned upside down. Hatem’s long work hours have begun to take a toll on his marriage to Naima.  After September 11th, she feels more than ever strange in a strange land.
The Flores familiy are on the road again. This time they are headed for a town called Mecca, which they worry will not live up to its name.
Israe and ngozi get new jobs but still struggle to make ends meet. Fellow Nigerian Barine works ahrd towards that most Americans of dreams – owning her own home.
Dominican baseball prospects Ricardo Rodriguez and Jose Garcia are at the crossroads. Will they make it to the majors or languish in the minor leagues? In the exciting concluding episode of The New Americans, they learn hard lessons about life in America and how talent alone doesn’t insure success.
