In
1975 President Ford issued the order for Operation Babylift. More than
2,000 children were airlifted from Vietnam to America, adopted and given
love, education, and a new beginning. For the military, it seemed like a
final act of redemption. To the government in Hanoi, it was a propaganda
ploy or a criminal act, tantamount to kidnapping. For the babies - now in
their mid 20s to early 30s - the story is not quite over. Until recently,
many of them also preferred to forget. But now- 25 years later - several
return to Vietnam seeking clues to their past, reunions that will help
them understand their history. In a story about connecting, Precious
Cargo follows these adoptees on that journey. CINE GOLDEN EAGLE 2002 Special Jury Award |
