Waiting To Inhale
Documentary (54 min.)

This new documentary from veteran filmmaker Jed Riffe (Ishi, the Last Yahi), explores the battle between patients, doctors, activists and government officials over the legalization of medical marijuana, featuring the stories of individuals whose lives have been uniquely affected by drug use or abuse. Scientists around the world, from Israel to Canada, from Great Britain to the Netherlands, are currently conducting groundbreaking studies that indicate the potential of marijuana to effectively treat symptoms of nausea, pain and spasticity in individuals who suffer from illnesses such as AIDS, cancer, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy and glaucoma. In rapidly increasing numbers, these patients are coming forward to discuss how marijuana has improved their health. However, the United States government has continued to resist funding clinical studies of medical marijuana. Waiting to Inhale examines the controversy from a multifaceted perspective that is medical, cultural, ethical and historical in its scope.
